The Village of Hempstead Community Development Agency is seeking resumes for the position of Commissioner.
The Community Development Agency works to facilitate services, activities, projects and programs designed to improve the physical, social and economic well-being of the Village of Hempstead in a comprehensive and unified manner.
The Commissioner oversees the day to day administration of the agency. The incumbent is responsible for successful leadership of the organization according to the strategic direction set by the Board of Directors which includes, developing policies, procedures and programs for the effective operation of the agency and evaluating their success.

Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
The position requires thorough knowledge of operations, services and activities of city planning and development programs, principles, practices and theories of urban planning and development, and land use laws; good knowledge of organization, function, and authority of various Village departments and agencies; ability to develop, implement, and administer goals, objectives, and procedures for providing effective and efficient services for the Village; ability to research, write and secure grants from various sources.
Desirable Training and Experience:
Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Master’s Degree in Urban Planning, Community Development, Public Policy/Administration, or a related field and five (5) years of full-time, paid experience* in urban planning, or the administration of the same, five (5) years of which shall have been in administrative and supervisory capacity;
Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Community Development, Public Policy/Administration, or a related field and seven (7) years of full-time, paid experience* in urban planning, or the administration of the same, five (5) years of which shall have been in administrative and supervisory capacity.
Possession of an American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) credentials will be given special consideration;
