The Village of Hempstead is hiring for the 2024 Summer season for the following positions:
Laborer
Recreation Attendant
Lifeguard
Qualifications for all positions
- Must be at least 16 years old with the appropriate NYS Employment Certificate (Working Card)
- Be a Village of Hempstead resident.
- Must be able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
- Will be required to work outside in all weather conditions.
- Ability to sweep streets, gutters, alleys, parks, openfields, etc.
- Ability to load garbage and/or recycling onto trucks up to 40 pounds
- Ability to load and unload equipment and supplies
- May operate motorized landscaping equipment
- Other duties as required
- Must have current Nassau County Lifegaurd Certification
- Current CPR/AED Certification
- Current First Aid Certification
Recreation Attendants
- Must be able to work with young children
- May be required to clean and maintain various park facilities
